| Folk
concerts in Amherst, Mass. |
|
Dear Audience,
The My Place concerts occur in the living room of
my home, where the setting is intimate and audience interaction
is welcomed. Theres room for about 25 people, and
sometimes we do have that many, but we tend to have about
five, unless the performer does plenty of publicity. Weve
been very fortunate to have talented performers from around
the country, but mostly from New England. Children are welcome,
but I try to let you know in advance how child-friendly
each performance will be. Theres no need for reservations
and no admission charge, but a ten dollar donation is suggested
for the performer. Since "My Place" (formerly the Stone Soup Café) is informal
and small, I want to be sure each performer is aware that
naming it a café may be misleading; its
a series of house concerts. I appreciate the performances
that take place in my living room, and I do some advertising,
(so far, three newspapers, two radio programs, and my e-mailing
list), but when I think about performers who ordinarily
get paid a lot and have large audiences, I want to make
sure no one books a flight and rents a car, expecting much
more than theyll experience.
Id like to have plays, instrumental music, poetry
readings, and more. And Id like to feature elementary
school students on Mondays, middle school students on Wednesdays,
and high school students on Thursdays. Let me know if youre
one of the above and youre interested.
Below is the schedule of upcoming performances and below
that directions to get to my condo. Even though my mailing
address is 170 E. Hadley Rd., it's best to ignore that;
my home is closer to Riverglade Drive than to E. Hadley
Rd.

How to get to Stone Soup Coffeehouse:
1) Go to Amherst Common.
2) Take rte. 116 South
3) Go 1.3 miles to traffic light. Go right at light at bottom
of hill. (Road only goes right).
4) After a short distance, go left on Riverglade Drive (the
road after the building).
5) Go over two speed bumps, then left into the driveway of
The Brook at Amherst Green.
6) Go over two more speed bumps. Park in any unnumbered space
in last parking lot on right.
7) Walk on the path that goes in the same direction you were
going on the driveway, until you get to condo #82. "Bob
Blue" is on the door. Come
